WordPress 2.5 installation step by step screenshots

Written by Helmut on Apr 2nd, 2008

I did WordPress 2.5 installation and saved screenshots with step-by-step instructions. In fact, there’s only two steps you have to take when you install WordPress. Here you go:
(at this point i assume you have downloaded WordPress 2.5, unzipped on your computer and uploaded its folder into your hosting FTP account)

Start with this:
Just open in your web browser the address of your blog directory ( i.e. www.mysite.com or www.mysite.com/blog/ ), and you will be automatically redirected to installation link and see a window like this:

WordPress

Now do this:
1) Fill the required “Blog title” with the title (name) you want to give to your blog or site (for example “Joe’s blog”).

2) Next fill the required “Your e-mail” with an active e-mail, that is where you will receive your admin password, and this address will be used later to recover your password, in case you’ve lost it (and you will, trust me).

3) Next, tick the box to allow your blog (site) to report itself to Google and alike services - you want to become a famous blogger, don’t you? ;) Or, if you wish to write your suicidal emo notes and not let anybody know about it, choose not to tick this box.

4) Now you click “Install WordPress” and that’s it, in no time you get this screen with your user name (admin) and password that was randomly generated. Write it down, once logged in, you will be able to change it to a more safer one, like “qwerty” or “admin12″ 8)

WordPress

There you go, just copy your brand new password and click on “Log in” thingee. Voila, you’re now a l33t blogger with your own blog platform! ;)

Leave a comment if this worked for you or you have some trouble!
Thanks for watching,
Helmut.

Blackout scream from Transformers as ringtone or mail sound

Written by Helmut on Mar 11th, 2008

I’m a fan of Transformers, the movie, if to be precise. Since the trailer came out, i noticed the cool scream of decepticon Blackout when breaching the US security system. After asking my bro to extract the wav file from trailer, i did some cutting to it and the result is this cool sound (click to listen).

I think it is a perfect thingee as your new mobile ring tone, or even sound for incoming mails on your favorite mail client ;)

Black Vista theme for Windows XP

Written by Helmut on Mar 11th, 2008

If you’ve seen Windows Vista with it’s new look, you might want to make your Windows XP look similar ;)

This XP theme will help you tune your old Windows - Royale Noir. Just download the ZIP package with files, extract them and follow the instructions given on that site. It works flawless, i’m using this theme on my PC at work and never had any problems with graphic drivers or anything. Enjoy!

Review of Amazon Kindle Wireless Device

Written by Helmut on Mar 3rd, 2008

Kindle from Amazon is a wireless reading device, or in other words it’s an electronic pager or book. But, it’s not just a book, it’s a device that lets you store hundreds of books (memory expandable with SD cards), it lets you search and buy books online from Amazon via its wireless connection (it is not a Wi-Fi, but a GSM connection, no hotspots needed!), and also keeps up to date with your subscriptions to newspapers or blogs. I’d say it’s almost perfect device. The only thing i don’t like is the price - $399.00

Vista partition formatting

Written by Helmut on Mar 2nd, 2008

I’ve written some time ago a blog post at the Vista How To blog about the way to format Vista partition when logged inside Windows XP.

As there are many users who have tried the Vista and don’t need it anymore (don’t like it or don’t want to buy the key after trial period is over), I hope the article will help you get rid of Vista and take back some free space on your hard disk.
